Google published a study on what motivates employees and discovered 5 traits to deliver a dream team: Psychological Safety, Dependability, Structure and Clarity, Meaning of work, and Impact of work (read the article here). When managers and decision-makers look solely at the interests of the business and ignore the drivers behind why people work there, it backfires.
Make sure you approach management the same way you approach human-centered design. The people who work at your company should be treated as your number one resource. Understand their needs and pain points, because the consequences will lead to the turnover of your best talent.
